  • -Relative= The Ethiopian plateau is really close to the Red sea
  • -Ethiopia's borders are Kenya, Eritrea, Sudan, and Somollia
  • -It is in the Northern and Eastern Hemisphere

  • - North-West is the Nile River
  • - North is the Red sea

Physical Geography

  • -Ethiopian Plateau is in Ethiopia
  • -Rift Vally is in Ethiopia

Climate

  • - The temperature is usually about 60 degrees
  • - It is usually tropical weather

Language

  • - Amharic is there main language simalar to Hebreu and Arabic
  • - There is over 80 other languages and people often speak therev own particular dialect
  • - Orthodox and Sebian are other popular languages

Personal Apperence

  • Most of men in Ethiopia for the most part were western style clothes
  • Most of the woman usually were traditional dresses
  • During holidays and other special occations, Ethiopions were white cotton decorated with various desings which usually are the symoble of the cross emboited with bright colors and others with hand woven silk
  • Woman were a cloth around there head called "Netella" because there not suposed to do there hair
  • Men were a "Gabi" which is a cloth that they were on there heads almost like a hat

Greetings

  • Ethiopians are usually very friendly, inviting, and warm
  • They try to make you feel at home and loved
  • Every time you visit them they always try to make you feel at home and loved by giving you a big hug and a kiss on the cheek

Vistiting

  • In Ethiopia vistiting is a very important function
  • People vistit each other there all the time even without advanced notice and you are always warmly welcomed
  • In some homes men and woman do not socialize together at all even in the same house
  • Ethiopians enjoy socializing very much

Eating

  • They eat two to three meals a day
  • Children do not eat at the same time as there parents except on special occations
  • The oldest person in the house is always the one to wash there hands first and the youngest person always washes there hands first

Family

  • Large families are very popular in Ethiopia
  • The sons in the family usually bring there wives home to live with there fathers family
  • A father builds a seperate house for his son and wife to live in

Housing

  • In Ethiopia groups of people build houses to look like a tradtional distinct style
  • Some homes are built out of stick, Canvas, or animal hides
  • Harari homes are famous for there flat wood, beamed roofs, and multi. level sitting rooms
  • In the city most people live in 2 room houses with walls as thin as cardbored
  • Most homes double as berooms to sleep in, kichen, dinning, buissness, shops, or even restruants

Life Cycle

  • When a Christian baby is born they stay with there mother for a number of days and when that time is up the baby is baptized
  • A baby girl is kept with her mother for 80 days before she is baptized (2 and a half months)
  • A baby boy is kept with his mother for 40 days before he is baptized ( 1 and a half months)

Diet

  • Porrige is made from corn, barley, oats, or sorghum flour boiled with milk
  • Porrige is the most common food in almost all regions of the country
  • People mostley eat Shiro

  • Ethiopian airlines is one of the busiest and most sucessful airlines handling transportation in Ethipoia , Africa, Asia and Europe
  • The railroad line between Addis Ababa and Dji'Bout import and export
  • Ethiopia exports khat, a narciotic leaf that is illgal in the United States and Canada, widely to the middle and East Africa
  • khat comes from a shub called Catha Edullis, drug is known to be very addictive but Ethiopia earned 60 million dollars by exporting and selling the drug
  • exports coffee (cash crop) their largest export accounting for more than two- thirds of the Nation's export trade
  • Ethiopia earned 453 million dollars from coffee exports
  • animal products (hides and skin) and livestock are Ethipoia's second important export

  • deforestatin was caused by firewood collection, over gazing, changing the forest into farm land and using wood for buliding
  • erosion was caused by people who were forced to move to the forest and onto the slopes for cutiuation
due to high populatin density
  • eroison lead to loses of 1.9 billion tons of soil
  • All soil ersion and deforestaion led to degradtion, low fertility and the drying up of streams and springs
